Trade Support Specialist – Interest Rate Derivatives

London

Global Leading Investment Management Firm

(2 – 10 years of professional experience, with strong rates exposure)

A leading globally known Investment Management Firm is looking for a motivated Trade Support Specialist to join their team. The role is focused on Interest Rate Derivatives in the Middle Office (MO) and will play a crucial role in supporting Portfolio Managers, internal execution teams, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate capture and affirmation of all trades. While the primary focus will be on Interest Rate Derivatives, the role will also involve exposure to various asset classes and securities, including credit derivatives, bonds, futures, FX products (both cash and derivatives), and the full range of Equity products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electronic Affirmation: Collaborate with onshore and offshore colleagues and counterparties to match trades on time for IRS, Bond, and Credit trades on various affirmation platforms.
  • Non-electronic Affirmation: Ensure that the risk on all trades or products not processed through an electronic platform is addressed and mitigated.
  • Broader T0 tasks: Provide timely service and support to other product lines and areas involved in affirming trades on T0 (e.g., FX, Futures, Equity).
  • T+1 support: Provide support on T+1 to remediate any issues from the previous day, communicating with impacted parties promptly.
  • Escalation: Report failures in the process or potential issues that could create a loss for the firm to line managers, Operational Risk, and the wider management team.
  • Improvements and management of initiatives: Identify and address process weaknesses, obtain stakeholder buy-in and engagement, develop business cases, plan and deliver projects, and escalate risks and issues.
  • Control focus: Proactively identify, assess, and document risks, propose process and control improvements, and keep the Operational Risk department informed.

Ideal Skills:

  • Experience with interest rate derivatives in a bank or buy-side institution is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Strong market understanding and familiarity with industry and regulatory changes.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, managing project deliveries alongside business-as-usual requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for daily interaction with senior stakeholders in the Front Office.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard systems such as MarkitWire, Markit Trade Manager, Bloomberg, and Murex is beneficial.
