About the Senior Network Engineer Role:
As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will play a central role in operating the network and firewall infrastructure in a future-proof manner for the company at over 250 locations.
They are looking for you and your expertise to implement the company-specific network / firewall architecture and strategy in order to continuously align the network and firewall landscape with the strategic goals of the Group together with internal and external partners and providers.
You will be part of the “Connectivity & Network Peripherals” department, which is responsible for the area of network and network security, including 2nd and 3rd level.
Whether cloud native or on-premise, you feel comfortable in both worlds.
With your know-how, you support the operation, further development and projects of the future operations models for the entire group.
Responsibilities:
• You are responsible for the implementation and development of operational solutions in the area of networks and firewalls
• You support the network strategy and the expansion of network and firewall services with a focus on LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDWAN and Cisco ISE
• You analyse and implement the requirements
• You administer and configure our firewall systems, VPN gateways and central and decentralised network components (including Fortinet NGFW, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer)
• You create configuration specifications and documentation and support the implementation in the production network
• You also act as the central contact person for service management in your area (asset, patch, change, incident, problem and configuration management)
• You follow and evaluate technological trends and innovative or cost-effective methods and take on the active design and further development of processes for their introduction
• You take on the leadership of small project teams as well as the technical leadership of multinational teams and external resources and take on more complex ones, working closely with various interfaces on all tasks
Ideal Requirements for this Role:
Several years of professional experience in planning and operating network and firewall technologies and managing partners and providers:
• Expert know-how with security and cloud connectivity technologies (Azure / AWS, Fortinet, Cisco and Zscaler)
• Expert know-how in the area of LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN and Cisco ISE
• Expert know-how in network architectures and in IP routing & switching protocols
• Solid end to end understanding in the area of security, network and connectivity
• Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
Advantageous, but not a must:
• Experience in SDN, automation and scripting
• Experience with ITSM and documentation tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence and Tufin)
• Experience in the management of SD-WAN providers
• Ideally knowledge or certifications in the environment of well-known network and IT security manufacturers (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.)
• ITIL v4 certification
• Goal and team orientation, analytical and organisational skills as well as conceptual, analytical and solution-oriented thinking and working
• Understanding of overarching technical and commercial contexts
