About the Senior Java Back-End Developer Role:

The company are looking for experienced developers with experience in Java 11, Microservices, Spring Boot, and ideally also AWS.

• You will be tasked with building and configuring Microservice Applications in Java/Spring Boot to meet the business and technical requirements

• Java Programming Concepts will be your responsibility

• You will analyse high level design documents

• You be involved in and prepare low level design activities

• Deliver code

• Review Unit/Integration Test Cases

• Review System Testing and System Test Case Preparation

• Prepare Release Notes and Deployment Guide

• Coordination of code deployment

• Attend Defect Triage Calls

 

Ideal Requirements for This Role:

● You are a Senior-level engineer – with several years’ experience in commercial roles

● You create clean, testable and well-documented code – and always leave existing code in a better state than you found it

● They are looking for someone who is ready to join a team and contribute for the medium term at least – this is not a contract – they are in this for the long haul – and hope you are too

● You keep up to date with new and emerging technology and identify opportunities for its commercial application

● Experience in building microservices using Java 11, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud

● Public Cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) for deploying microservices

● Docker and Kubernetes experience

Able to build, support & maintain services that carry real value for our end users.

Be a team player and someone who actively collaborates with others. You should value multidisciplinary team over hierarchy.

Good understanding of TDD, BDD and current development practices (e.g., CI/CD, Containerisation, RESTful services, Microservice architecture, code re-use, design patterns etc).

Platform knowledge: AWS, Mongo, Oracle Java 8, Jenkins, Self-hosted Github & Kafka

Languages and frameworks knowledge: Java 11, CXF (Java), Spring Boot (Java), Jetty (Java),

Mustache, HTML, JavaScript following t, CSS

Techniques knowledge: Agile, Kanban, Clean Architecture, SOLID Principles, TDD, Pair

Programming, Trunk based development, RESTful APIs

Tools knowledge: Splunk, Zabbix, Dynatrace, Terraform, Ansible, NPM
