Role Overview

The Role of the Relationship Manager involves overseeing a specific group of Wealth Managers who manage their own financially autonomous operations. The main objective is to establish and nurture profitable and enduring connections with these Wealth Managers and their teams. Through close collaboration, the Relationship Manager develops an understanding of the Wealth Managers’ requirements and provides suitable solutions that facilitate the expansion of their enterprises. The Relationship Manager takes charge of the initial setup phase and remains the primary point of contact throughout the entire duration of the partnership, ensuring that the Wealth Managers receive an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities

Commercial Relationship Management

  • Function as the primary point of contact as the Relationship Manager for an exclusive group of Wealth Managers, aiming to enhance opportunities for increased revenue and asset expansion.
  • Proactively advocate for our resources and services to assist Wealth Managers in comprehending the value we bring.
  • Serve as the representative at the Head Office, championing the interests of Wealth Managers and ensuring comprehensive alignment across the organisation.
  • Conduct regular meetings with Wealth Managers, guaranteeing the achievement of Department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include targets for asset growth.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the designated Relationship Management Executive (RME), ensuring timely execution of sales support, follow-up, and administrative tasks.
  • Utilise targeted communications to keep Wealth Managers informed about critical updates, such as project developments, product introductions, system enhancements, and alterations in the business landscape.
  • Verify that Wealth Managers are operating under optimal pricing models and consistently monitor to ensure appropriate communication and recognition of loyalty milestones for those meeting specified achievements.
  • Take complete ownership of escalated matters, even those requiring swift resolution, and collaborate with relevant business sectors to secure favourable outcomes.

Transitions Support

  • Lead and coordinate all initial setup and transition activities to facilitate a seamless shift for new branches integrating into the company.
  • Ensure adherence to documented protocols, assigning specific responsibilities to the designated RME as necessary, and overseeing their completion within specified timelines.
  • Monitor and actively communicate updates on progress to Wealth Managers, taking steps to overcome any hindrances that arise.
  • Collaborate closely with the Training team to fulfil ongoing training requirements.
  • Participate in training sessions, attending on-site visits to guide new offices in effectively utilising systems for optimal workflow enhancement.
  • Engage in Training and Orientation sessions, presenting relevant information to assist offices in grasping the subsequent processes.
  • Offer guidance and assistance for intricate queries or escalations, ensuring continuous sharing of pertinent knowledge with your RME support.
  • Serve as a visible role model, utilising industry expertise to mentor and coach individuals, even if they fall beyond your immediate team.

Projects

  • Contribute to projects and initiatives when required. Ensure that all department-specific Portal content is accurate, up-to-date, easy to understand, and relevant.
  • Recognise when guidance owned by other departments needs to be changed and use the appropriate influencing skills to resolve.

Technical Requirements

  • Experience in the UK Financial Services industry, specifically with good working knowledge of the private client wealth management sector.
  • Established track record of Relationship Management or Account Management with a focus on sales.
  • People management experience.
  • Previous experience working with the custodian Pershing is desired.
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Degree educated with a wealth management qualification such as IMC, FPC, or IAD is preferred.
  • If the candidate does not have a wealth management qualification, the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) or similar investment industry qualification is required.
