Principal Software Engineer | Up to €200,000+ Comp. Package | Portugal (Fully Remote)

One of the largest travel platforms in the world, who generated revenue of nearly 1 billion dollars and who grew by almost 10% last year, is hiring for a Principal Software Engineer to join their team in Portugal (Fully Remote).

Established for 20+ years, and utilised by billions of customers annually across 50+ markets, this company continues to change the face of travel.

The Role:

In this role, you will focus on the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) for Restaurants, working closely with product teams, researchers and analysts to assist consumers in their quest to find the best locations to wine and dine.

Principals Engineers are the go-to specialists who guide the direction of the organisation and mentor junior members. You will strive for constant improvement, solving problems and conducting regular reviews to realise tangible change and achieve the long-term goals of the company.

This will involve writing code (both front-end and back-end), utilising large datasets and implementing your expert technical knowledge when consulting with senior stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 8+ years as an engineer, with considerable experience with both front-end (React) and back-end (Java, Python) technologies.
• Well-versed in cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Comfortable communicator who is used to liaising with senior stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.
• Significant experience working with large databases and using data in a meaningful way.
• English fluency.
