Reporting to the COO of Investments and part of the wider Investment Infrastructure group, the Dealing Team is responsible for executing predominantly equity and fixed-income transactions in furtherance of discretionary strategies managed by the Investment Team. The team is also responsible for a small but important flow of execution-only orders received from clients through the client-facing Front Office teams.

Role Overview

The team is seeking a Multi-Asset Investment Dealer to be a core member of this evolving technology-focused function that holds exceptional client service and outcomes at its core. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong quantitative aptitude, a broad understanding of buy-side technological developments, and have the ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in global trading activities in cash equities, fixed income and structured products, centred around the firm’s multi-billion-pound multi-asset strategies.

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement and documentation of trading desk processes with emphasis on execution management systems and trade automation, while adhering to a robust risk and control framework.
  • Assist in the monitoring and oversight of the cadre of trading counterparties ensuring the maintenance of accurate static information and participate in periodic due diligence reviews.
  • Provide daily communication and market insights for internal consumption across the Wealth Management division.
  • Give support and actively contribute to the portfolio management team and implementation process.

Experience, skills and competencies required

  • 3 to 5 years of investment industry experience, with at least 2 years in a trading / dealing role.
  • Appropriate formal qualifications, ideally in a quantitative discipline, would be beneficial but are not mandatory.
  • Strong Excel skills with experience of SQL, Python or other programming languages. Experience of working with Avaloq would be an advantage.
  • Experience of transaction cost analysis, smart order routing, market microstructure and algo strategies.
  • Understanding of quantitative financial and statistical concepts.
  • Understanding and interest in fundamental research processes and multi-asset portfolio management.
  • A strong understanding of relevant regulatory developments and trends.
  • Diligent and high level of attention to detail when working under pressure.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively to develop project and research ideas.
  • Willingness to work in a close-knit team with a long-term perspective.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A curious and change-orientated mindset with a desire to contribute to both ongoing and project-related process improvement initiatives.
