Technical Lead – Electrical Engineering | Contract (Perm available) | £350-600 per day Inside IR35 DOE | 6 months rolling contract | On-Site | Immediate start

Role:

A leading organization in the water industry with offices based in Shrewsbury, Derby, and Coventry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Lead to join their team. As the organization shifts towards operating as the Expert Client in the Capital Delivery & Commercial Organisation, there is a need to grow and develop the Design capability and expertise. The role of the Electrical Design Lead is to set, maintain, and raise the standards for the Electrical discipline within the design function, ensuring standardization, consistency, and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine techniques, templates, tools, and processes to establish and improve Capital Delivery Design standards in the Electrical discipline.
  • Explore opportunities for short-term Research & Development and adoption of new techniques and technologies for the capital program.
  • Ensure competency of individuals and review workload to optimize resource utilization in the Design function.
  • Check and sign off work within the discipline, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Mentor and develop apprentices and engineers in the discipline to enhance their skills and qualifications.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for discipline queries within the design community and the wider supply chain.
  • Undertake project design work as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an engineer.
  • At least 1 year’s experience providing technical leadership in a large capital works program.
  • Ability to lead by technical example and manage a team of engineers.
  • Previous experience in a design environment, preferably in Utilities, at a senior level.
  • Familiarity with QMS systems and their implementation.
  • Proficiency in integrating with matrix teams.
  • Strong network of professional contacts and relationships throughout the supply chain.
