We are currently working with a fast-growing connectivity and digital technology start-up, looking to hire an IP / MPLS Network Engineer. Their product provides high-speed networking, cloud, data, IoT and edge computing services that power performance and efficiency.

Role Summary πŸ–₯

As a IP / MPLS Network Engineer, you will ensure that the company’s core MPLS and service edge network infrastructure is created, provided, and supported to guarantee that it is sturdy, dependable, and suitably fit for purpose.

You will be joining the Network Engineering department of the company, who take full ownership of the company’s network. You will also cooperate with significant suppliers and clients on the service’s technical features.

Key responsibilities πŸ”‘

  • Continuously monitor the core network to maximise availability.
  • Aid in the delivery and onboarding of new client networks with the Head of Network Engineering.
  • Provide technical direction and assistance to Network Engineers and Apprentice Network Engineers within the Network Operations team.
  • Fix service and support issues relating to core network services or complicated edge locations that were escalated from 2nd line.
  • Promote technical recommendations and ideas that may enhance network or service performance inside the company.
  • Provide timely and consistent reports to the Senior Management Team and Head of Network Engineering when required.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of network improvements and capacity additions.

Ideal requirements πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

  • Designing, implementing, and testing L3 and L2 network architecture based on MPLS, IPv4, and Ethernet.
  • In-depth knowledge of IP and MPLS protocols using Cisco IOS or IOS-XE.
  • Expert-level proficiency with BGP and OSPFv2.
  • Able to quickly pick up new Network Operating Systems (like Junos or IOS-XR).
  • Understand features of IP and Ethernet networking, such as bridging and routing.
  • Excellent IPSec VPN technical foundations.
  • Strong understanding of edge- and core-facing connection protocols used by service providers, such as Ethernet, IP, dot1q, MPLS applications, IGPs, and MP-BGP.
