Derivatives Operations Analyst- Operations- London
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Derivatives Operations Support Specialist to join our clients’ Derivatives Operations team. This role is integral to the success of the business, as it ensures the accurate and compliant execution of post-trade activities for our Rates and Derivatives dealing desk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight and Monitoring: Monitor the daily routines of our outsourced providers to ensure service levels meet expectations. This includes reconciliations, clearing reports, collateral movements, and cash balance reports.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with Custodians, outsource providers, and third-party investment service providers.
- Swap Valuation and Collateral: Act as a conduit for swap valuation queries and collateral disputes, ensuring smooth communication and resolution.
- Front Office Reconciliation: Verify that trade blotters match trading activities and reconcile our trading systems against daily reports from outsource providers.
- Service Level Monitoring: Monitor service levels from providers, review monthly Management Information (MI), and attend Quarterly Service Reviews.
- Liquidity Management: Perform daily liquidity management processes and ensure accurate and timely information is available for Portfolio Managers.
- Cash and Stock Reconciliation: Review cash and stock reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Collateral Disputes: Reference terms of the CSAs and contact counterparties to assist in the resolution of collateral disputes.
- Technical Advisory: Act as a technical advisor to resolve failed trades between the Front Office traders and the outsourced middle office provider.
- Compliance and Audit: Assist the Compliance department in internal and external audit processes.
- Process Improvement: Define and improve business processes, procedures, and control sheets to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
- Change Initiatives: Participate in change initiatives with our outsourced provider, focusing on designing new BAU processes and maintaining or improving efficiency.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Understand and work within the Company’s guidelines on treating customers fairly.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of fixed income and derivative products, trade lifecycles, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to learn and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Proficiency in written and oral communication.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in the finance industry.
- Strong Excel, including VBA skills.
- Experience with BAU processes and change initiatives.
Desirable:
- Experience in management/oversight of external service providers.
- Operational experience of UMR.
- Understanding of derivative-related regulatory regimes.
- Interest in the investment industry.
Qualifications:
- Ideally educated to degree level.
- Holds a recognized investment qualification, e.g., IOC or IMC.
