C++ Technical Lead – Gloucester (on site) – £65,000 to £85,000+bonuses

The Technical Lead position is responsible for overseeing the development of network security and communication appliances for various clients such as government departments, telecommunications, and critical national infrastructure companies. The successful candidate should have a development background and experience managing teams to lead technical outcomes that meet customer’s mission needs.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to delivery.
• Develop network security and communication appliances for various clients.
• Lead technical outcomes that meet customer’s mission needs.
• Understand C++, Linux, multi-threading, and network technologies.
• Schedule, estimate, and breakdown tasks.
• Provide technical decision making and an identifiable leader for the team and wider product area.
• Engage with and mentor developers.
• Work with project and engineering managers to support internal business processes.
• Modify the approach to meet project dynamics (e.g., Agile, Iterative, Waterfall).

Requirements:

• Strong C++ and Java skills.
• Experience with modern libraries and networking fundamentals.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good grasp of networking fundamentals.
• Ability and desire to learn new programming languages and technologies quickly.
• Proven problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Linux and Windows development experience.
• Experience with scripting languages.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

• Scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, Bash.
• Docker.
• Knowledge of distributed version control systems.
• Experience with automated build and continuous integration suites.
• Understanding of low-level computing concepts.
• Defect Tracking software (JIRA preferred).
• Experience planning, estimating, and designing system components.
• Customer facing skills.
• VoIP/VTC standards.
